1 June 2016
We packed up slowly and
leisurely over 2 days and were waiting for the gates to open at 06h00 for an
early departure from Satara. We traveled at 50 Kph with the intention of
getting to Lower Sabie as quickly as possible, for two reasons, one to try for
a good site, and two, Lettie wanted to make Kruger bookings for next year as
the bookings opened at 07h30 for May 2017.
Traveling down from
Satara to Lower Sabie we saw 2 groups of Rhino and 2 prides of Lion as well as
general game, we only slowed for a quick look and moved on, people thought we
were mad not stopping for Lion.
Good to say we
achieved both we got the best site at
Lower Sabie and we got the bookings we wanted for next year. Two out of Two for
getting the best site at Satara and Lower Sabie, a first for us.
As you can see we
packed out all the canvas to make us comfortable, private and cool (warm) for
the next month at Lower Sabie.

Because of the Drought we have not seen many Buffalo around Satara, so were happy to see our first reasonable herd.
We came across an Impala sounding the alarm call, I noticed Leopard spoor around and scanned in the direction the Impala was looking. I vaguely spotted a dead impala hanging in the tree but no Leopard, we sat for a while watching some Baboon making their way in our direction, when suddenly this Leopard broke cover, obviously not wanting to take on the Baboons. I only managed this one shot.
