Satara day 19 of 45

We found this Saddle Billed Stork fishing along the river on the S100, I was taking Photos, when through the lens I saw the bird getting agitated, so continued clicking away, a Fish Eagle dived down and was harassing the stork. I was lucky enough to capture the moment and take this incredible photo. This is why you have to be patient and click away; you never know what’s going to happen next.

Satara is now a lot quieter and the weather is great, typical of this time of year, warm to hot days, moderate nights and cool mornings 14C.
Once a week is maintenance and cleaning of the van, the amount of dust and insects that accumulate is incredible. We have a maid that does our washing every Monday.
I am missing my golf and plan a round in Hoedspruit soon, when we go on a shopping trip. To keep fit I am Jogging 3 times a week around camp.

Mating Lions on the H7

Shall we, should we do it now?

No thanks, I have a headache!
Lovely pose of contentment

Not following the rule of thirds, but the Vervet dead center works here!

  1. Good Morning Andrew & Lettie. I follow your blog daily, so envious of you. I enjoy your stories, your photo's and one day I will do what you are doing. I wonder, do you know what the longest single stay for a visitor has been in the Kruger Park? Maybe, you could ask at the Satara reservations office. I would love to know. Enjoy the weekend, bye for now. Allen (Pa'Slee)

    1. Hi Allen, glad you are enjoying our blog as much as we are, In 2010 there was a lady, Martie, who spent a year in the KNP, she was camping in a caravan on her own, she spent 4 to six weeks in every camp in the park. she was a great Photographer and had a blog going, i will see if it still exists and post the address. Her husband worked in the Middle East and used to join her for a week every 3 Months. As far as I know this is the longest stay.

    2. Thank you. I have searched google, and I cant find a record of her blog. If you can find it I would like to see what she did and the route she took. I was initially surprised to read it was a lady, but then thinking about it, and how safe travelling in the Kruger is, I should not be surprised. I think her records needs to be challenged!. Allen

    3. Hi Allen, Her name is Martie Goddard, if you google this quite a few results come up. She now stays in Marloth park. Her blog was somehow on the Sanparks website and co-hosted by them. Andrew
