Golden Gate Highlands N.P.

Steadies up at 08h00 Monday 4 April from Karoo National Park, decided to bypass Gariep Dam as a stopover as we were far too early, travelled 600km to Willem Pretorius Game Reserve 100Km north of Bloemfontein where we slept over. Lots of rain en route and it rained the whole night. Snug and comfortable in our caravan, this is when you appreciate a large caravan when you are confined inside.
As we had covered extra distance yesterday we only had a 2 hour drive to Golden Gate. It was still raining when we arrived and cleared long enough for us to put up some canvas. We stay here for 3 nights. We have a great site with a view of Brandwag and the Sandstone tops.
The weather forecast is more rain and cold with a possibility of snow clearing on Friday 8 April. I planned to play golf at Clarens Golf and Trout estate but will give this a miss due to the weather; instead we will go into Clarens and visit the Art Galleries and Restaurants.
We leave on Friday 8 April for Mahai camp in the Drakensburg (Royal Natal). The weather forecast is good with Sunshine for the 6 days we are there.
