Last night at Croc Bridge

After 7 nights at Crocodile Bridge we are moving to Lower Sabie on Monday 31 Julyfor 7 nights.
Patrick, Diane and Christine have also spent 2 nights at Croc Bridge we had a good Braai and spent Saturday game viewing.
Friday I played golf at Kambaku in Komatipoort, great course and facilities.
No more incidents to report, got the fine reduced to R500-

We found this Lioness climbing the tree on the S28, very unusual as it was quite a large tree. The Lion was lying in the long grass below.

At the same spot the day before they were seen mating, so obviously she has had enough and escaped up the tree.

This is the tree, the Lioness is visible top left

First few days in Kruger

We arrived at Crocodile Bridge on Saturday 22 July at about 2 in the afternoon, all the good sites were taken so we decided to just park and wait for a site to go open on Sunday when most of the holiday makers would be headed home as the schools were reopening on Monday 24.
Late afternoon we saw a family, on a great perimeter site, starting to pack up, they had miscalculated on their date of departure, I immediately readied myself to take the site.
In my haste to move I accidentally side swiped another campers car with the rear of my caravan. I totally wrecked my neighbors Suzuki Vitara’s front bumper, no damage to my caravan. On Monday I lodged a claim with my insurance company.
This is the third mishap since leaving home. On leaving home I damaged the caravan’s rope beading maneuvering it out the drive way of our house. We had the beading replaced in Bloemfontein.
Then the R1000-00 fine which on appeal has now been reduced to R500-
On Monday I tried to connect to DSTV only to discover that the new Explorer decoder requires an 80 cm dish and a special LNB. R1600 later and an installer from Nelspruit had me up and running.
After all this we are now settling into Game Reserve mode and routine. Today 26 July was the first day of serious game viewing, we had good sightings of Rhino and Lion, and as soon as I get time I will download and post some photos.

Off to Kruger July 2017

We left Cape Town on Monday 10 July 2017, spent our first night at Karoo National Park,  freezing thank goodness for an electric blanket, our latest must have in a caravan.

Just outside Beaufort west we were stopped in a road block, to my horror I discovered that my drivers License had expired in Feb. already. R1000- fine and on we went. Decided to stop and see if I could renew my license in Colesberg, 2 photos, an eye test, and an hour later I had a temporary license for 6 months, much easier than trying to do it in Johannesburg or elsewhere.

Slept in Bloemfontein on Tuesday night, had the caravan serviced in Bloemfontein after deciding it would be easier than having it done in Johannesburg with all the traffic to contend with, great idea excellent service.

Arrived at Kim on Wednesday about 7:00pm, missed the grand kids as they were already in bed.

We leave for Kruger tomorrow 22 July after spending lots of quality time with the girls.

Our plans are

Crocodile Bridge arrive 22 July for 9 nights
Lower Sabie  arrive 31 July for 7 nights
Satara  arrive 7 August for 21 nights
Letaba arrive 28 August for 14 nights
Skukuza arrive 10 September for 1 Night

We will be returning the caravan back to storage in Nelspruit on the Monday 11 September.
We plan to spend another week in Johannesburg with Kim and Peter before returning home Mid September.

Watch the blog and enjoy, we will update regularly.
